We are vulnerable on mobile to Google and Apple because they make major mobile platforms. We would like a stronger strategic position in the next wave of computing.
I love this email very much because it explains everything that's going wrong with Zuck's mission to bring the Metaverse to life. Instead of articulating _why_ users should flock to his new platform, or what it enables that the regular web does not, he immediately dives into the technical challenges of AR/VR. There's no core philosophy here, no lofty goals; just a rent seeker looking for new rent to extract.

The problem is the hardware still sucks, at least for consumer use cases, even here in 2023.
